The Bust Percentages in Blackjack
Making tough decisions while playing blackjack can be pretty difficult and confusing for the player especially if the player is just a beginner in the game. A beginner will not know the blackjack dealer's second card and will not have a clue which cards will be dealt by the dealer next.
They will be forced to make a decision without complete information on the matter. So how would a player act in a game of blackjack if they are just a beginner in the game and they do not have the right information? The player should know how to utilize the basic techniques used at the blackjack table.
Techniques show players the best play in every blackjack situation, so the player will know when to stand, double down or even split their cards. The basic strategy in blackjack has been developed using the mathematics involved in the game, revised and developed through computer simulations, based on the cards of the player and the 'up card' in the possession of the dealer.
The up card by the dealer is vital because they have the possibility to bust more often by having some cards over others. Like if the dealer has a five or six, chances are they will bust 42% percent of the time. This is quite a high percentage so it is only common sense that you should do everything to avoid busting and allow the dealer to bust.
This is also a good time to double your wager. If the player holds a ten or eleven, then any total of ten on the next card of the player will give them an excellent hand. This occurrence will happen 30% percent of the time. So when a player combines this opportunity with the knowledge that even if you did not get a ten, there is a good chance that the dealer will bust makes it a very attractive position to be in.
It is a great opportunity to maximize your wager when the odds are favorable. If the dealer's Up Card is two, the dealer has a 35% percent chance of busting. If the dealer's Up Card is three, the dealer has a 37% percent chance of busting. If the dealer's Up Card is four, the dealer has a 40% percent chance of busting.
If the dealer's Up Card is five and six, there is a 42% percent chance of busting. If the dealer's Up Card is seven, there is a 26% percent chance of busting. If the dealer's Up Card is eight, there is a 24% percent chance of busting. If the Dealer's Up Card is one and 10, the dealer has a 23% percent chance of busting and if the Dealer's Up Card is an ace, the dealer has a 17% percent chance of busting.
Using the basic mathematical technique in blackjack minimizes the casino edge. By having a good understanding of the game, the player will be able to ensure that they will make the right decision.
