Hitting On the Sixteen in Blackjack
A lot of gamblers at blackjack games have the basic grasp of the techniques and use them correctly. It is a common knowledge among blackjack players to know when to hit, stand or divide their cards. But it is surprising that a lot of players who believe that they know the basic techniques in blackjack make a lot of mistakes at some point in the game.
Sometimes players will play in a guess or they will play conservatively if they have a large wager in the table. Players need to stop making this kind of mistakes in order to become successful in blackjack. One of the most common mistakes that players make in blackjack tables is when a player has a total card hand of sixteen.
Players usually get very disturb about hitting a 16 because they are wary of busting especially if the dealer has a seven card. More often than not, players hit a 16 against the dealer's dace card because they know that dealer is likely to have an outstanding hand.
But if the dealer has seven, players usually stand and hope the dealer will bust instead of them, this kind of mind set is not advisable because there are more reasons to hit a seven than hit a 10.
It is a fact that the dealer has a chance of busting more with a seven card that with a ten card. Statistically, the dealer has a 26 percent chance of busting with a seven but only 23 percent with a ten. There is a difference between the two but it means if the player is standing with their sixteen card, they are going to lose out 74 out of 100 card hands if that is the situation. So players must hit their sixteen to try and win a hand.
So why it is vital to hit the 16 against the dealer more than if the dealer is holding a ten card? The important difference is the players' own card hand. The chances of the player busting with a sixteen card hand are the same regardless what the dealer have but the player have to think about the cards that they may get to make it a good hand.
When the player has a seven, the dealer has a 31 percent chance of drawing a seventeen. So it means that having a sixteen has a lot of good cards that can turn it into a winning hand. A two, three or four card will give the player a winning card hand while an ace card will likely give a push.
So about 38 percent of the time the players' hand will improve and will give them a chance to win. Compare this situation when the dealer has a 10 card. The dealer is likely to make a total of 20 or may even get an 18 or 10. So if a player has a 16 and is fortunate enough to get a deuce, the players' 18 may not be enough to win the game.
Your chances of beating the dealer are small because the player needs to have a four or five in order to have a chance to win. This situation makes hitting the sixteen instead of the seven even more favorable than hitting a sixteen against a ten.
Players must not stand on their 16 and just hope that the dealer will bust. This situation also applies if the player gets a four or five to make their sixteen or if the dealer has an eight, nine or an ace. Players must have the determination to hit at the sixteen so that they can maximize their chances to win in the game.
